Vietnam is finally get more of the recognition it deserves in the world for its cuisine, with fresh ingredients and imaginative flavors, and one of the highlights of any trip to Vietnam is the food. Even if you do not expect to do much Vietnamese cooking, a cooking class is a fun and interesting way to learn about the local ingredients and how to make some of the popular dishes.
DAY 1 : ARRIVE IN SAIGON (D) Warmly welcoming at Tan Son Nhat Airport and escort to hotel. Free at leisure until head our for a fine – dinning cruise in the evening. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City
DAY 2 SAIGON COOKING COURSE & CITY TOURS ( B) Morning discussion of Vietnamese cuisine with the hotel chef, followed by hands-on cooking class. Enjoy your creations for lunch. Afternoon, start Saigon sightseeing tour to the Reunification Palace and some French and some French colonial structures including Notre Dame Cathedral, the old Central Post Office. Tour of Chinatown and Thien Hau & Quan Am pagodas. After seeing the Emperor Jade Pagoda and War Remnants Museum. We end the city tour with Ben Thanh Market Visit Ben Thanh market to see the abundance of spices, fruits, and foods used in Vietnamese cooking . Overnight in Saigon
DAY 3: SAIGON - MEKONG DELTA/MY THO (B/L) Breakfast at the hotel before transfers to Mytho. Take the experience boat through Bao Dinh natural canal and see the still houses and the fruit plantation along the canal sides. Visit My Tho wholesale fruit market. Proceed to the Tortoise Island. Lunch served in the heart of the orchard. Enjoy a boat ride through the Tan Thach natural canal in Ben Tre, cruising under the shadows of the fruit plantation in the Thoi Son Island. Here we have opportunities to stroll around an orchard, taste many seasonal fruits and enjoy wonderful traditional music Enjoy a rowing boat ride on the creeks before returning to My Tho. Road trip back to the Ho Chi Minh City & Overnight in HCM
DAY 4 HO CHI MINH – DANANG – HOIAN (B/L/D) Fly to Danang and transfer to Hoian Acient Town, visit the Marble Mountain and China Beach Enroute. We have an oriented walking tour of Hoian ancient town which was busy with trade back a few centuries ago. Walking in the narrow streets flanked by old merchant houses we can imagine the hustling and bustling time when the town was filled up with merchants and goods from around the world. We’ll visit some old merchant houses, a Chinese Congregational Hall, Hoi An Museum, and the famous Japanese covered-bridge and Hoian Market. Diner is at local restaurant in the heart of the old town. Overnight in Hoian.
DAY 5: HOI AN COOKING TOURS (B/L) We start the day at 8.45 am with a drink at Hai Scout Cafe - our meeting point. Visit Hoi An's colourful market, and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later. We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your camera is handy. On arrival, we have a chance to explore the cooking school's herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An's and Vietnam's well-known dishes. The cooking class is an interesting and fun way to learn about the local cuisine - the class runs for about an hour and 15 minutes, and includes demonstrations from the school's chefs as well as the chance for us to help prepare some dishes. Included in the demonstration is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration). After the cooking class, you will be free at leisure. Overnight in Hoi An
DAY 6 HOIAN – HUE (B/L) Our journey brings us through the scenic countryside of the Central Region of Vietnam to Hue Imperial City. We’ll stop at the Lang Co Beach with fine white sand against the green mountain backdrop and the Hai Van Pass which offers 360 degrees of breathtaking mountain and sea. Lunch is at a local restaurant with Hue fine cuisine. Arriving in Hue, you embark on a tour to visit the Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City, the Imperial Museum and the Dong Ba market. Enjoy Hue Rotal-style dinner at the restaurant. Overnight in Hue
DAY 7 HUE COOKING TOURS (B/L) At 7:30 in the morning, we follow Mrs. Cuc, the owner of Y Thao Garden House to Dong Ba central market, where she gives an instruction on how to choose food for our cooking lesson at 9:30 at Y Thao Garden House. Lunch is the food we prepare. In the afternoon, travel by Dragon Boat on the romantically named Perfume River to Thien Mu pagoda standing on the riverbank with its seven-storey tower. DAY 8 HUE - HANOI (B) After breakfast we explore Hue on our own until transferring to the airport for a short flight north. Ha Noi, Vietnam's capital, is a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some Asia ‘s most striking colonial architecture. The relaxing atmosphere is also a highlight of Hanoi. After checking into hotel, we have time visiting the beautiful lake of Hoan Kiem with its sacred temple, the picturesque West Lake and the Dong Xuan Market. A perfect way to finish the day is to enjoy a short cyclo excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places.Overnight at Sofitel Metropole, Hanoi.
DAY 9: HANOI COOKING TOURS - HALF DAY CITY TOURS (B) Morning market tours with the hotel chef and cooking demonstration at the Metropole Sofitel Hotel. Having lunch at Spices Garden. Afternoon city tours to visit the city’s landmarks such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Once Pillar Pagoda, The Temple of Literature, 1 hour cyclo tours around Hanoi old quarters and enjoy the traditional water puppetry show. Overnight at Sofitel Metropole, Hanoi.
DAY 10 HANOI – HALONG (B/L/D) The journey to Halong takes you through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life. Board your cruising vessel, either a traditional junk boat or a replica of a classic steamship. Have lunch as you cruise among hundreds of dramatic limestone karsts to discover unspoilt pockets of Halong Bay. Visit a cave, go swimming, kayak, take part in a Vietnamese spring roll cooking demonstration on the sundeck, or simply relax as you wind through the Bay. Overnight onboard a boat, Halong Bay.
DAY 11 HALONG - HANOI (B/L) As you return to Halong City, enjoy a wholesome brunch as your boat weaves through strange-shaped limestone rock formations. On the way back from Hanoi stop at a premium, Vietnamese liquor maker where local spirits are produced through a combination of traditional and modern methods. Cap off your culinary tour with an exclusive farewell dinner in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter. Overnight at Sofitel Metropole, Hanoi.
DAY 11 HANOI DEPARTURE (B) You have free time until we transfer you back to NoiBai International Airport for your departure flight. Time to bid farewell to the beaming Vietnam Smiles.
